Is Arnold Schwarzenegger The Perfect
Political Scapegoat?

In 2003 as the energy
crisis reached its peek in California the Republican Party saw an
opportunity to unseat the Democratic Governor of California. As
the Republicans where searching for a candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger's
name began to surface as a possible candidate. If they could convince
him to run he would be
the perfect candidate in their eyes. Economically he fit the mold as a
physical conservative. He was a conservative capitalist. Morally, his
views lean to the left of center. This was perfect because he was a
candidate that those on the left could except. And he was someone that
the Democratically controlled Legislature of California could except.
Or,
at least put up with. Gray Davis was their man but he had quickly
become a political liability to the Democratic Party. What the
Republicans did not realize however, was that in their zeal to get rid
of Gray
Davis, they where actually doing the Democratic Party a big favor. If
they could have just let Gray Davis complete his term the voters would
have not only taken out Governor Davis, but they would have taken out
the Democratically controlled Legislature as well. The Republicans
could not wait however, and they felt that they had their man. So the
Democratic Party put up a show that was designed to convince the voters
that they where opposed to the recall election. In the back of their
minds however was the fact that the Republicans where giving them
someone outside of the Democratic Party that they could blame for the
problems that California faces. Arnold Schwarzenegger was the perfect
political scapegoat as far as the Democratically controlled Legislature
of California was concerned. As it turned out the Republicans got what
they wanted and
the Democrats got a man that they can blame for any of the problems
that continue to plague California. While Governor Schwarzenegger is
busy asserting his economically conservative strategies the
Democratically controlled Legislature is busy, as usual, imposing their
left-wing views on the people of California. Since undermining the
voters on Proposition 22, which was overwhelmingly passed by the
California voters, the California Legislature has been busy trying to
re-write the definition of marriage. In a response to an e-mail sent to
Senator Dianne Feinstein, she stated the she did not vote for the
marriage amendment, that the US Senate refused to pass,
because she felt that it was up to the voters to decide on such
issues. Well, the voters did decide on that issue, and the California
Legislature decided that the voters did not know what they where doing.
In
an era of moral fence walking and
moral relativity, Arnold was the perfect candidate for both sides. At
least until the 2004 Presidential Elections, when morality seemed to
become an issue. Now, all of a sudden you have candidates who, for
political reasons, are trying to align themselves with the moral
issues. Jesus stated that you can clean the cup on the outside, but if
you don't clean the cup on the inside, then it is just as dirty as it
was before, Mk 7:3-23. God knows our hearts and unless there is an
inward change then the image that you put forward on the outside means
nothing to God, except that you have rejected His plan for your
salvation. Will the Democratically controlled legislature of California
continue to try to make Arnold Schwarzenegger the political scapegoat
for what is going on in California? That depends on the direction that
the economy takes. It also depends on Arnold because God is also trying
to get his attention. Will moral relativism continue to be the
direction that California and the rest of the nation takes? That
depends on the direction of the hearts of the people of California and
the nation. The bible tells us that if we repent and turn to God and
call on His name then He will heal our land. It also tell us that if we
don't, then destruction is before us. If America continues down the
path that groups like the ACLU are bent on taking us down, then the
only thing at the end of that path is God's judgment. That is a path
that God is trying to get us off of. But that is what freedom of choice
is all about. No one will be able to stand before God and make excuses.
God gave His Son to die on the cross for our salvation. It is through
Christ, and Christ alone, that the cup can be cleaned on the inside.
That is what God will be looking at on judgment day. The bible gives us
the standard by which God while judge every man and woman.
Micah
6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord
require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly
with your God?
It is through Christ only that we can live up to this standard. God
will be looking at our hearts on judgment day. And if He does not see
Jesus dwelling in our hearts, then all we will have to look forward to
is His wrath. Being a Republican or a Democrat will not help anyone get
into heaven. But rejecting Christ will definitely keep you out of
heaven. That is because Christ is the only perfect candidate to be the
Lord of our lives. No one else ever has, or ever will, fit that mold
